The Department of Health and Hospitals—Office of Mental Health announced today that it is seeking to hire board-certified psychiatrists to provide services in its Prior Authorization Unit of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Program. 

 The LDH Office of Mental Health will use these providers to conduct medical reviews of requests for services that are based on level of need.  This intensive effort is being undertaken to handle a backlog of cases, allowing psychiatric resources to be focused on victims of Hurricane Katrina.
