Public Health AccreditationIn 2014, the Office of Public Health began working towards achieving public health accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), with the goals of more effective engagement with our stakeholders and partners, additional transparency and accountability, and greater impact that reflects the powerful, collective knowledge Louisiana’s public health team holds.

The accreditation journey using the PHAB Standards and Measures to examine the capabilities and capacity of the agency as a whole. Achieving accreditation will demonstrate that we can meet the national standards for the three core functions identified by PHAB: Assessment, Policy Development and Assurance. As part of the accreditation process, the Bureau of Performance Improvement began monitoring the progress of our OPH Strategic Plan goals, engaged the community via the State Health Assessments and the State Health Improvement Plan, and indentified quality improvement projects.
