BATON ROUGE, La. (May 2, 2009) - Today, state officials announced that the Department of Health and Hospitals is investigating ten new suspected cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus in Beauregard, Lafayette and Orleans parishes, bringing the total number of suspected cases currently under investigation to 19.
BATON ROUGE, La. (May 2, 2009) - Governor Bobby Jindal announced today that DHH has identified additional cases suspected of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus, bringing the total number of suspected swine flu cases in Louisiana to 23. The DHH lab now has received a total of 673 cases to test for an indication of the H1N1 virus. They have already tested 294 samples and 379 more are pending.
BATON ROUGE – Today, state officials announced that the Department of Health and Hospitals is investigating another possible case of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus in Ascension Parish, bringing the total number of possible cases in Louisiana to nine. These are only possible cases, meaning they could not be identified by the Office of Public Health laboratory in New Orleans and have been sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lab in Atlanta for confirmation. There are still no confirmed cases of the virus in Louisiana, at this time.

BATON ROUGE — Today, Governor Bobby Jindal, DHH Secretary Alan Levine and DHH health officials announced that they have recommended the closure of a Lafayette parish school - Cathedral Carmel School in Lafayette - as a precautionary step, after tests showed five possible cases of the H1N1 virus (know as "swine flu"), including one involving a student who recently returned from Mexico.
BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal held a press conference to discuss the state’s aggressive action to get ahead of the swine outbreak and stress the importance of citizens taking steps to prevent against illness. The swine outbreak has sickened 20 people in the U.S. and hundreds more in Mexico, and it is being closely monitored by state and federal agencies.
BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals is encouraging all Louisiana individuals and families to engage in “aggressive prevention” steps against a Swine Influenza (swine flu) virus strain that has been confirmed in cases in California, Kansas and Texas, as well as Mexico. There are no confirmed or reported cases in Louisiana at this time, but given the spread of the virus in the U.S. thus far, the Department anticipates some cases will arise in the state.
