Amends the provisions governing the reimbursement methodology for inpatient hospital services to increase outlier pool payments in compliance with House Concurrent Resolution 5 of the 2019 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature.
Today the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Louisiana’s Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) authorizing the state to negotiate supplemental rebate agreements from prescription drug manufacturers. The SPA permits the state to negotiate supplemental rebate agreements using a new “modified subscription” model that initially focuses on antiviral agents for hepatitis C and that promotes eliminating the hepatitis C virus statewide.
“This new model has the potential to save many lives and improve the health of our citizens. It is an important day for our state, for our partner Asegua Therapeutics, for providers, but most importantly for the patients and their families who will benefit from treatment,” said Governor Edwards.
