  Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities – Transitional Rates for Public Facilities LAC 50:VII.32969

  Amends the provisions governing intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in order to align the Rule language relative to transitional rates for public facilities with the Medicaid State Plan amendment approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and to ensure that the provisions are accurately promulgated in a clear and concise manner in the Louisiana Administrative Code.

  Federally Qualified Health Centers – Alternative Payment Methodology LAC 50:XI.10703

  Amends the provisions governing the reimbursement methodology for federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in order to implement an alternative payment methodology to allow FQHCs to be reimbursed a separate prospective payment system (PPS) rate for behavioral health and dental services which is at the same rate as the existing all-inclusive encounter PPS rate when such services are rendered on the same day as a medical visit.

  Louisiana Department of Health joins World HIV/AIDS Day events

  This week, health and community organizations around the state will join with the Louisiana Department of Health to shed light on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Louisiana as part of NOLA HIV/AIDS Awareness Week and World AIDS Day. Events will be held from November 30 through December 1 throughout the state to make an effort to remove the stigma surrounding these diseases and to slow the epidemic in Louisiana by sharing education about resources for testing and treatment.

  The Department of Health submits a detailed monthly report to the Legislature that provides a comprehensive overview of Medicaid spending. The reports include projections for future revenues and expenditures for the given state fiscal year.

  Effective this week, and after more than three years of planning, development, and testing the Louisiana Department of Health has launched a new automated system for Medicaid eligibility and enrollment. This updated IT infrastructure will improve customer service, boost efficiency, and increase the accuracy of Medicaid eligibility decisions.

  Abortion Facilities – Licensing Standards LAC 48:I.4431

  Continues the provisions of the December 3, 2016 Emergency Rule which amended the provisions governing outpatient abortion clinics in order to comply with the provisions of Acts 97, 563 and 593 of the 2016 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature which increased the time period for pre-operative services, mandated the distribution of printed information about services for pregnant women, and established provisions for the disposal of fetal remains.
