How To Apply for SNAP
Choose a method to apply for SNAP benefits:

- Gather the documents you will need to verify the information in your application. What must be verified and examples of proof.
Step Three
- After submitting your application, an interview letter will be mailed or a LDH staff member will contact you for an interview.
If a face-to-face interview is requested, you may schedule an appointment with any LDH parish office.

- Download and complete a print application.

Applications can be printed and completed at an office nearest to an applicant.
If you need an application to be sent to your mailing address, contact LDH Customer Service by emailing LAHelpU@la.gov or calling 888-LAHELP-U (888-524-3578).
Step Two

Choose one of the following options:

- Drop off at the nearest local office
NOTE: Applications cannot be emailed.
Step Four
- After submitting your application, you will receive an appointment letter within 10 days for scheduling your interview.
- If a face-to-face interview is requested, you may schedule an appointment with any LDH parish office.
Phone Application
Unable to complete an application online or by mail? You may also contact LDH at 888-LAHELP-U (888-524-3578) to apply by phone.
Applying by phone takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete. After you complete your application by phone, a physical copy will be mailed to the address you provide.
