  • Yes. By participating in LaHIPP, a Medicaid member will no longer receive physical health services from their Healthy Louisiana health plan. Their primary insurance will cover physical health services, and the Louisiana Medicaid Fee-For-Service program will be their secondary insurance.
    When visiting your doctor for physical health service, be sure to provide your private insurance card and your Medicaid card.
  • No. Both behavioral health and dental services will continue to be covered by the Healthy Louisiana plan.

No. If your doctor is in-network with your primary insurance plan and they accept Medicaid Fee-For-Service, you do not have to make any changes.

Contact your doctor to make sure they accept both.

Yes. When approved for LaHIPP, your Medicaid coverage changes from your Healthy Louisiana plan to Medicaid Fee-For-Service. Before enrolling in LaHIPP, check to see if your doctor accepts this type of Medicaid coverage. You can use the Find a Provider tool to search for “Providers Servicing Only LaHIPP”.

Let your doctor know you are enrolled in LaHIPP and be sure to give both the Medicaid and health insurance benefit cards at check-in.

LaHIPP Providers are called Medicaid Fee-For-Service providers. You can use the Find a Provider tool to check for “Providers Servicing Only LaHIPP”.

Your doctor must contact Provider Enrollment to become a Medicaid Fee-For-Service provider.
