December 18, 2025 LDH to extend UnitedHealthcare contract for 90 days

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dec 18, 2025 - The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will extend its Medicaid managed care contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) for 90 days. The contract will continue through March 31, 2026. 

Members currently enrolled with UHC will remain with that plan during this period and will not be reassigned to a new health plan on January 1, 2026. No action is required by members at this time. These changes do not affect Medicaid members who are not enrolled with UnitedHealthcare. 

“Thank you to the legislators and our managed care plans for working together to put patients first. This extension gives us more time to take an even more thoughtful approach to transitioning members to new plans,” said LDH Secretary Bruce Greenstein. “Continuity of care is our highest priority, so members can continue accessing their services without disruption.”
