STATE OFFICE CLOSURE - INCLEMENT WEATHER
Commissioner of Administration Taylor Barras is announcing that all state offices in Cameron Parish will be closed Wednesday, June 17, 2026 and Thursday, June 18, 2026, due to the impending tropical storm.
All agency heads are responsible for determining those essential personnel who should remain on duty, report for duty, or those who should report to alternate work sites as necessary. Officials continue to monitor conditions throughout the state, and this announcement may be updated.
This office closure applies to all nonessential employees, including those authorized to work from home.

Louisiana Office of Public Health to hold public health fair
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, - The Louisiana Department of Health's (LDH) Office of Public Health (OPH), in collaboration with the Southern University Foundation, will hold a health and community wellness fair on Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Horace W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex at Southern University, 801 Harding Blvd., Baton Rouge.
The Bureau of Chronic Disease and Healthcare Access, also known as Well-Ahead Louisiana and part of the Office of Public Health, organized the fair to promote disease prevention and community access to health resources. More than 50 vendors are slated to attend.
Services offered at the health fair include health screenings, stress management techniques, rural health resources, nutrition education, tobacco prevention tips, chronic disease prevention, and self-care management. There will also be wellness breakout sessions, voter registration, and various wellness activities.
This event also features a youth expo for middle- to high-school-age youth. Activities include a youth medical presentation by Dr. Ron Andrews, a medical spelling bee, a healthy food demonstration, and health assessments.
