Changes to Medicaid Health Plans in 2026

The UnitedHealthcare health plan will not be available to Medicaid members beginning April 1, 2026. If UnitedHealthcare is your current plan, you will move to a new health plan effective April 1.

These changes do not impact any Medicaid members’ eligibility.

A New Health Plan for UHC Members

UnitedHealthcare members had the option to choose their new plan during a special enrollment period from January 15, 2026, to February 15, 2026. Members who opted to make a choice during that period will begin with that new health plan on April 1.

Any UHC members that did not make a choice during the special enrollment period will be assigned to a new health plan. Every attempt will be made to:

  • keep families together in the same health plan, and
  • keep members in a health plan that will allow them to see their same doctor.

All UnitedHealthcare members will stay with UnitedHealthcare until 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2026. On April 1, 2026, they will be moved to their new health plan.

New Health Plan ID Card

Health plans will send welcome packets and new ID cards to their new members. Packets should be mailed out by March 2026. Members can also get their new card in digital format on the LA Wallet app. The app is free and can be used when members go to their doctor or pharmacist. For more information on how to use LA Wallet, see the LA Wallet Flyer.

LDH will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available.
